This is the BEST way to learn a language
"I learned German THE HARD WAY--
memorizing lists of words and grammatical rules, then practicing
with native German speakers until I finally became fluent.
When
I decided to learn Spanish, I searched for some method that was
less painful.
I'D TRIED EVERYTHING with German--private instruction, university
courses, living in Germany, Berlitz intensive course, VCR and cassette
tapes, books . . . I didn't want to go through that to learn another
language!
One
day I saw an advertisement for your tapes. The ad was fairly convincing,
so at my next opportunity [I found out more.]
What
was the catch? I had to spend a half-hour a day listening
to the tapes for one month. I couldn't do that--my schedule
didn't allow for such a luxury. So I listened to one or two
days each week until I reached the halfway point in the tape set.
Then I went to Spain to test my Spanish. Even though I had
only gotten half way through the tapes, it had already paid off.
I
had never consciously exerted any effort to learn the language (the
tapes were a pleasure to listen to and participate with) yet I could
think of Spanish sentences in every situation! I am not fluent
in Spanish, but certainly self-sufficient!
I
will never go back to the old way of learning a language now that
I know how easy and enjoyable it is with the Pimsleur tapes!
This is the BEST way to learn a language."
